Sam Houston State University AP credit

What each AP score earns at Sam Houston State University: 30 exams, credit shown in credits. Always confirm with the school before you plan your schedule.

Rules that apply to every exam

Students may earn up to 30 hours of credit through a mix of national exams like AP and SHSU departmental tests.
A minimum score of 3 is required for credit unless otherwise specified.
Art majors must earn a minimum score of 4 for AP art credit.
An SHSU A grade automatically takes precedence over credit earned by exam.
B or C grades take precedence over credit-by-exam unless the student requests credit-by-exam under policy UG 950531.
A D or F grade is automatically replaced by credit-by-exam for credit purposes.
Credit-by-exam can remove a D or F from GPA, but the original letter grade still appears on the transcript.
Credit-by-exam awards specific course prefixes, numbers, and hours; letter grades are not awarded.
