What each AP score earns at Yale University for 2025–2026: 14 exams, credit shown in credits. Always confirm with the school before you plan your schedule.

Rules that apply to every exam

Two is the maximum number of acceleration credits that can be earned in any subject.
Students cannot earn acceleration credit by combining testing and coursework in the same subject matter.
Students may earn acceleration credit from subjects in different columns of the table.
To qualify, IB higher-level or GCE A-level exams must be taken prior to matriculation in Yale College.
IB higher-level 6 or 7, or A-level B or A, is required where an AP score of 4 or 5 earns credit; IB 7 or A-level A is required where an AP score of 5 is needed.
No credit is awarded for AP Physics 1 or AP Physics 2 tests.
Only the departments listed in the table award acceleration credit, regardless of AP test availability.
The University may modify this table to reflect current course offerings; information pertains to the Class of 2030.
