Boston College AP credit

What each AP score earns at Boston College: 31 exams, credit shown in semester hours. Always confirm with the school before you plan your schedule.

Rules that apply to every exam

  • Boston College reserves the right to change its AP policy, as determined by campus administrators.
  • Most AP scores earn placement units that fulfill Core requirements rather than credit; students still need 120 credits.
  • Thirty AP units may make students eligible to apply for Advanced Standing and graduation in three years, subject to Dean approval.
  • AP elective units cannot fulfill the four Arts and Sciences electives required for CSOM students.
  • AP units cannot fulfill the six elective credits required for CSON students, who fulfill Natural Science and Mathematics Core through freshman coursework.
  • Request official College Board score reports sent to Boston College, using code 3083, if scores are missing from your record.
  • Beginning with students entering Spring 2022 and later, qualifying Macroeconomics and Microeconomics scores together earn ECON1101 placement.
  • Beginning with students entering Fall 2026 and later, a qualifying AP Psychology score earns placement for PSYC1111.
