Fairfield University AP credit

Rules that apply to every exam

• Fairfield awards three or four hours of credit toward graduation for each AP course, provided the student has taken the AP Test prepared by the CEEB program.
• Fairfield accepts only a score of 5 for some subjects; for most subjects a score of 4 or 5 is accepted. The catalog does not identify which subjects require a 5.
• No student will be awarded more than a total of 15 AP credits by Fairfield University.
• AP credit will not be awarded for Tier I Orientation courses in the Magis Core.
• Students may not use AP or transfer credits to be exempt from Tier 1 elements of the Magis Core.
• Students can earn a maximum combined total of 15 credits for Higher Level IB and Advanced Placement courses.
• If a student is placed into the same Fairfield course after AP credit has been awarded, the student must waive the AP credits.
• Deans determine whether AP credit can exempt students from specific University courses or requirements.
• Only one AP English exam may earn credit toward degree requirements, and it counts only as elective credit; ENGL 1001 is still required.
