What each AP score earns at Middle Tennessee State University: 35 exams, credit shown in semester hours. Always confirm with the school before you plan your schedule.

Rules that apply to every exam

  • Credit is granted for AP scores of 3 or above unless noted otherwise. No grades or quality points are given, and these credits do not affect GPA.
  • A student may receive no more than 60 semester hours by credit by examination, special examination, dual credit, service-related experience, and flight training combined.
  • Requests for credit must be submitted to the MTSU Undergraduate Admissions Office no later than the final day of classes of the term for which credit is requested.
  • If a student elects to take a course rather than receive Advanced Standing credit, the student forgoes all credit related to that exam.
  • Credit removed from the transcript will not be re-posted regardless of outcome, including withdrawals, passes, or fails, for MTSU and transfer coursework.
  • Courses marked with an asterisk require a grade of 4 or above to receive credit.
