Rules that apply to every exam

Credit by exam scores must be sent directly from the administering institution to HWS; high school transcripts or personal copies are not accepted.
Generally each exam scored 4 or 5 represents one semester of work and one course credit; full-year exams earn two credits.
Exams must have been taken prior to beginning study at HWS.
Taken together, credit by exam and dual enrollment course transfers may not exceed seven course credits.
No student may receive more than sixteen total credits for non-HWS learning experiences, including AP credit.
Credit by exam courses may not be used to satisfy the goals or perspectives of the curriculum.
Using AP credit for major, minor, or prerequisite requirements requires approval of the individual department or program.
Credit previously granted may be removed should a student subsequently take a substantively similar course at HWS.
